Sauna/Ice Bath Etiquette
Sauna/ice bath etiquette must be adhered to at all times. This includes-
-
Please behave in a respectful manner to fellow sauna guests and abide by the rules and regulations of Sand and Stream outlined in this policy.
-
Enter and leave quickly and quietly - minimise heat loss and keep it relaxing.
-
For hygiene please use a towel to sit or lie down on. It will also be more comfortable, acting as a buffer between your skin and the hot wood.
-
No glass or metal bottles to be taken into the sauna.
-
Leave all electronics outside.
-
Flammable materials including newspapers and magazines should not be taken into the sauna.
-
Only pour the provided 'sauna water' on hot rocks and nothing else.
-
Ask before pouring water on the rocks. Gently pouring water onto the sauna stove; do not dump the water onto the stove. When you pour water on the sauna’s heated rocks, it creates a powerful burst of hot and soothing steam. It feels amazing. But some people don’t like it. So before you pour water on the sauna rocks, ask everyone in the sauna if that’s okay.
-
Please make room for others. Maximum in sauna is 6 people. We have designed our sauna to be roomy and never overbook it. Sitting down takes priority over lying down unless it’s not at capacity.
-
Please don’t exercise in the sauna - Saunas are for relaxing. Exercise can be done outside the sauna.
-
No grooming of hair or nails is permitted.
-
Staying in the sauna for no longer than 15 min at a time (we recommend 5-12 min sessions)
-
Staying in the ice bath for no longer than 5 minutes at a time (we recommend 1-2 min sessions)
-
We recommend cooling down for at least 10 minutes before entering the ice bath.
-
Getting changed within your booked time slot and exiting with if you time slot so we can prepare the sauna for the next guests.

Heat Protection Sauna Hats

1 Protect Your Head from Heat
Sauna hats insulate your head, shielding your hair and scalp from extreme temperatures and preventing overheating or dizziness during longer sessions.
2 Enhance Comfort & Endurance
By regulating head temperature, sauna hats help you stay in the sauna longer, allowing for deeper relaxation and more effective heat exposure.
3 Preserve Hair Health
High heat can dry out and damage hair; a sauna hat reduces direct heat exposure, helping to maintain moisture and prevent brittle or frizzy hair.
